Led Zeppelin: 1971-09-29 Osaka, Japan (FLAC_AUD 5 Sources_3 CD)

Today is the 43rd anniversary of this concert in Osaka Led Zeppelin put on in 1971.  And the songs are a different variety than the previous night's setlist too.  Sure, there are many of the same songs.  But this show sounds like a completely different high energy night as the mighty Zep rocked Osaka again.

I may do some copy & paste segments in this upload today.  There is way too much information to pass along and I don't have a lot of time to do it today.  I have 14 different copies of this date's sources, labels, and the likes.  This is the second from longest, or most complete, copy of the show I have.  It clocks in at 197:53 in length (or 3 hours, 18 minutes almost).  I have one other LP sourced copy that is about 2 minutes longer.  And I'm searching still for some other copies of the show I've yet to hear but have heard were even better sounding.

LINEAGE:
NOTE: Primary source is an onstage audience recording for this show but it has been mistaken for a soundboard in earlier years.  There were a number of parts cut from the person recording the onstage audio so those are what the changes in sound on this show are from as other audience sources have been used to fill in those gaps and any other missing audio gaps.

Back in 2011, this 3 CD set was released by Tarantura celebrating the 40th anniversary of the show.  I may do some more checking and upload another copy or two of this show.  To be honest, I'm not sure which one is the best sounding yet.  But I really like this one, I'm listening to it now, and it is a great representation of the almost complete show.  I did notice it looks as if Tarantura may have heavily clipped the audio in the waveform I saw.  But that's what bootleg labels do out of stupidity.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of the sources used for this recording.  There is artwork included with this same information on it too.  Here's the copy & paste of his breakdown:

Liner notes:
Professor Wallofski and Friends Live In Japan
The Japanese vinyl bootleg double LP "Live In Japan"and its American reissue "Live In Osaka 9/29 '71"featured a substantial part of the amazing "stage recording"of the final concert of Led Zeppelin's 1971 tour of Japan. Further selections from this recording were included on other vinyl bootlegs such as "Strange Tales From The Road" and "Unburried Dead Zeppo's Grave". Whatever tapes were used to make those LPs have since been lost or hoarded or have deteriorated, because none of the countless versions of this famous recording that have been released on CD or circulated among tape traders has ever sounded so good. This 3-CD set presents the concert in its entirety, collating the available material from the LPs and using the best available copies of the stage recording, plus two alternative audience recordings, to complete the picture.

***************************************END

Needless to say, this is one of the most widely versed, worked on, and distributed Zeppelin shows out there.  There are numerous sources, labels, LP's, and titles to go with this date.  As I stated at the beginning, I've got 14 copies I was looking at trying to decide which to upload today.  So finding any "one best" copy is really an impossibility almost.  Each has its own reason for being better in one part of the show than others with so many sources being mixed.  The primary, I believe 174 minute, source that was thought to be soundboard does get used the most since it is close to complete and sounds best.  So that's one thing most mixed source copies have in common; but not always.

I'm going to get this show uploaded now so anyone else wanting to give it a listen on its 43rd anniversary can join in with me today!

I hope you enjoy the show...
