Led Zeppelin: 1977-06-22 Los Angeles, CA (FLAC_AUD 4 Source Mix_4 CD)

I've had some requests lately for some shows I never have uploaded before.  As many know, Led Zeppelin played The Forum in Los Angeles, California for six nights on their return to the United States in 1977.  And this is the second night's show and for all practical purposes it is the complete show.  There is a small cut missing between "Kashmir" and "Over The Top" (or "Moby Dick").  To date there has been no source available for this short missing cut according to "weedwacker" and it is not available at this time anyhow.  But other than that small cut, the full show is here and it takes 4 CD's to get it all on disc.

This is a four sources mix project done by "weedwacker" and it is the revised version too.  So all thanks goes to him and the tapers of course.

1. "* = Src 1, ** = Src 2, *** = Src 3, **** = Src 4"
2. "Complete show minus small cut between Kashmir/Over The Top that is not available on any existing sources. Minor cleanup was done to fix overly harsh hiss levels on source 2 and source 4. No remastering was done to the actual music itself.

Rev 0.1 - pops and clicks fixed in original mix. This version supercedes any previous versions.

The sound ranges from good-to-excellent depending on which source is being used.  But even the good sound sounds clean.  There was some light "cleaning" done to compensate for the high amounts of hiss on tape sources 2 and 4 according to "weedwacker" too.

I started listening to this recording again tonight as I started preparing it for uploading.  Led Zeppelin was excited on their return to Los Angeles (being a state and city they loved) and in this second night's show they put on a flawless and stellar performance.  I'm up to "White Summer" right now and refreshing my memory on this show since it has been so long ago I last listened.

The sound ranges and changes with the use of different sources as you would expect.  So if you're just after a perfect sounding show, this one may not be for you?  Unfortunately Mike Millard does not appear to have been at this show otherwise we'd likely have a perfect recording of the whole show (or most of it).

I tried a number of ways of making this show fit onto three discs but could not.  Disc times were running over 80 minutes (the maximum CD time limit without using over-burn) with the traditional breaks we see on most 1977 Led Zeppelin show recordings.  Having a more complete copy of a show can easily cause this to occur.  Many may or may not realize that a lot of times small parts, usually chatter in between songs, get cut sometimes to make a four disc show into a three (or whatever the scenario might be) CD set.  I prefer having the full show or at least everything that is available to make it the most complete.  And that is what "weedwacker" has done here thankfully!

In case anyone is wondering which sources sound the very best, it is my opinion that source 1 and source 3 beat source 2 and source 4 by a long shot.  Sources 1 and 3 are excellent sounding.  But then again, I like them all too.  Also, in case anyone sees the ad below showing just four dates and wonders about that; the band added more shows due to the selling out of tickets
to the originally planned show dates very fast.

I hope you enjoy the show...

  1. Bootradr- Thanks for all you do. Great list of boots. If you get a chance, Part 14 of Heart: 2012-07-28 Windsor, Ontario, Canada (Pro Shot HD DVB>TS) is bad. If you could re-up I would appreciate it.
